Sharon Switzer

November 1, 1946 — September 19, 2022

Sharon Jean Switzer (nee Rea)

AKRON - Sharon J. Switzer (nee Rea), 75, of Akron, Ohio formerly of New Franklin, Ohio, marched into her version of the afterlife on September 19, 2022, in a fashionable red dress complete with matching lipstick, statement accessories and chic stiletto heels - while sipping on a room temperature chardonnay.

Raised in New Franklin, Ohio, Sharon was a 1964 graduate of Manchester High School and attended The Ohio State University. Sharon began her career in the airline industry which sparked a lifelong passion for travel. She transitioned to, and recently retired from, the beauty and fashion industry. And along the way, she never missed an opportunity to express her creative nature.

Establishing and maintaining relationships with people she cared about most was the top priority in Sharon's life. She was fiercely passionate about making memories. And since Sharon's death, our family has found much comfort in recounting her many fabulous fashion statements, extravagant homemade meals, and remarkable ability to form friendships at every turn. Perhaps the greatest testament to her commitment to relationships were the frequent visits and long conversations she enjoyed with the people she cared about around the country. Sharon's loss will be deeply felt by family and friends for years to come.

Sharon is preceded in death by her son Matthew "Bo" Thomas Switzer, her parents Lyndall and Robert, and sibling William "Case" Rea. Sharon's brother Thomas Rea survived her death, but sadly passed away shortly thereafter. Sharon will be dearly missed by her daughter Stacie, "favorite son-in-law" Michael Ruth, and granddaughter Madelyn Switzer Ruth with whom she shared an incredible bond. She is further survived by siblings Linda Jones, Larry (Carol) Rea, and Barbara (Gary) Kindig, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces/nephews.

In lieu of calling hours, family and friends are invited to a memorial reception to celebrate the lives of Sharon and her brother Tom on Sunday, October 30, 2022, from 1-4pm at The Tudor House located at 655 Latham Lane in New Franklin. Colorful outfits are required for entry. Baubles, bracelets, and stiletto heels are encouraged. Extra credit for matching hats. Should friends desire, memorial gifts may be made to The Ohio Veteran's Memorial Park (www.ovmp.org).
