February 13, 1947 ~ December 24, 2020 (age 73)

Nancy Jo Sibbio, age 73, passed away on December 24, 2020. She is survived by her beloved and cherished sons Gregory (Rey) and Nicholas, her Schweitzer siblings and their families, Jim (Carol), Bill (Cathy) and Cathie Ann; and her loving grandsons, Christopher, Phoenix and Reymundo. Her passing was preceded by her parents, Jacqueline “Jackie” (Gray) and James Julian Schweitzer. Jackie was her best friend and they spent many days talking and laughing as they shared experiences, fond memories and family stories.
Nancy was an Ohio native born on February 13th, 1947. She graduated from Buchtel High School where she enjoyed dancing and watching American Bandstand. She earned her degree as a Registered Nurse at Akron General School of Nursing. She worked at Akron General Hospital before moving to Phoenix, Arizona with her boys and, then husband, as well as father to her sons, Dominic (Tom) Sibbio. She loved raising the boys in a warmer climate and camping with her brothers and their families. She returned to Akron in 1989 working as an RN at what is now Akron General-Cleveland Clinic.
She saw her work as a tangible way to care for loved ones and ensure their well-being in the face of life’s adversities. She had a way of reaching out to her patients providing them comfort and reassurance during difficult moments. As a medical professional, she took her responsibilities seriously and personally. She had a huge and caring heart which was clear to those who knew her.
A passion of hers was spending time with her family, especially during holidays and reunions which were the source of many well-told stories and cherished memories. She was generous and donated regularly to many causes, big and small. She enjoyed traveling to vacation destinations with Greg and Rey. Amid the hectic pace of work and family life, Nancy always found time for her boys, grandsons, family, and friends. She was an animal lover and enjoyed the companionship of her cats, Sis and Smokey. In her retirement years, she enjoyed watching animal videos on social media and would regularly comment on how cute or funny they were.
Nancy, those whose lives you have touched will remember, always, your unfailing passion & fierce loyalty. We, your family, will hold in our hearts your unflagging spirit, steadfast support and enduring love. We are grateful for all you brought to our lives and will always love & miss you. Until we meet again in heaven, rest in peace.
The family hopes to have a celebration of life sometime next year.
