Mary Mamas

January 29, 1926 — March 30, 2021

Mary Lucille Mamas (nee Elwood) passed away at The Village of St. Edward in Fairlawn on March 30, 2021 at the age of 95. Lucille was born in Akron, Ohio on January 29, 1926 to Mitchell and Mary Elwood. She was preceded in death by her husband George W. Mamas and son Mark G. Mamas. She is survived by her son William G. Mamas (Connie) of Hudson, Ohio and grandchildren Brenda K. Walsh (Brian) of Walnut Creek, CA, Troy W. Mamas of Hudson and Brian R. Mamas of Los Angeles, CA and great-grandsons Liam and Conor Walsh as well as her sister Joanne Beil of Warren, Ohio and sister-in-law Billie Konstan of Akron.
Lucille attended St. Sebastian school and Buchtel High School where she was a Drum Majorette for the marching band and was elected Homecoming Queen. Lucille also attended the University of Akron. She was a member of St. Sebastian Church until she became a founding parishioner of St. Hilary Church in Fairlawn. Lucille and George were married 64 years until his passing in 2010. They were members of Fairlawn and Portage Country Clubs. Lucille loved to play bridge and was a member of many bridge groups. She was active with the St. Thomas Hospital Women's Board and WITAN. Lucille will be remembered by her family for her strong faith and for being a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Her family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of The Villlage of St. Edward Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing in Fairlawn as well as Elara Caring Hospice and Sarah for their loving care and support for Lucille.
There are no calling hours. A private celebration of her life will be conducted by family members at a later date.
