Marcella "Marcy" Healey, born May 28, 1922, passed away peacefully November 17, 2021 with her family by her side. Marcy was a force to be reckoned with. - spirited and spunky. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was a dynamo, living a good life for 99 ½ years just shy of her goal to reach 100, and earn her place on a Smuckers' jelly jar.
She was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Frank and Emily Strudl. Upon graduating Cathedral High School, she worked for the Greyhound Bus Lines and at Boys Town and for its founder, Father Edward Flanagan.
Marcy lived in Omaha until she married her beloved husband of 65 years, Martin "Marty" Healey in 1947. It was from there that she and Marty began a loving marriage and partnership that resulted in more than 16 moves as he advanced his career with Goodyear. She made Akron and then Fairlawn, Ohio, her home in 1972 where she lived for almost 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her two brothers, Jack and Leonard Strudl. She is survived by her three children, Patricia Sproul of Colorado, Monica Brindley of Washington and Jeffery Healey of Ohio; her two grandchildren, Kate Brindley Boni (Steve) and Michael Brindley (Lorie) and their families. Her legacy will live on in her four delightful and life-affirming great granddaughters. She was the matriarch of her family and leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Nebraska.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Hilary's Church, 2750 West Market Street, Fairlawn, Ohio. The Mass will be live streamed at Church@sthilarychurch.org.
The family would like to thank Cleveland Clinic Hospice, First Light Home Care, and especially the nurses and staff at Justin T Rogers Hospice Care Center in Akron. Their compassionate, loving, dignified care was exceptional. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Justin T Rogers Hospice Care Center.
