Joseph Ross (Big Joe) Byrd, Sr, 40, of Copley, OH passed away September 6, 2021.
He was born on February 10, 1981 in Sewickley, PA. After attending Hopewell High School (PA) and graduating from Pittsburgh Technological Institute (PA), he began a lengthy career at Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton, OH.
Joseph loved all things outdoors; spending much of his time camping, hunting, fishing, hiking and visiting the lake. He enjoyed watching old westerns, reading and was a huge Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers fan. Joe was quick to make friends wherever he went.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Joseph & Mary Bauer and paternal grandparents Ross Byrd & Dorothy Lynn Bailey.
He is survived by his mother, Marilynn Byrd-Postava; step-father, Walter Postava; father, David Lee (Maribel) Byrd Sr; son, Joseph Ross Byrd Jr; brothers, David Lee Byrd Jr and Phillip (Jodie) Byrd; half-sister, Rebecca Byrd; 4 nieces & 2 nephews, 2 step-sisters, his 4-legged companion Maybell, and extended family and friends. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
Calling hours will be between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM Thursday September 9, 2021 at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd, Copley, OH 44321.
