Gary Smith

Gary D. Smith, 63, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021, due to complications from COVID-19. He was a 1978 graduate from Medina High School. Gary was a talented artist. He enjoyed Western movies and shows. He loved music, especially the oldies, and worked as a DJ in the past, and again recently with his friend John Kelly. Gary also loved animals. He was especially fond of his Jack Russell Terrier named Festus. Gary loved his family and friends greatly. He attended Community Church of Portage Lakes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Gertrude (nee Brooks) Smith and his younger sister, Peggy Calabris. Gary is survived by his sister Bonnie (Mike) Woodcock; niece Rachel (Billy) Durbin and great-nephews Isaiah and Liam Durbin; nephew Joshua (Melissa) Wilcox; former brother-in-law Chuck Calabris (Connie) and his friends and church family. Cremation has taken place and there will be no calling hours or service. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
