Frank Casalinuovo

October 4, 1942 — September 16, 2022

Mr. Frank A. Casalinuovo Jr., age 79, passed away on September 16, 2022. He was born in Akron, Ohio to the late Frank and Ann Casalinuovo.

Frank is survived by his wife, Jean; and is also survived by his brother Joseph Casalinuovo of Medina.

Frank married Jean (Hamann) Casalinuovo on November 5, 1965 at St. Bernard's in Akron, Ohio, and they had three children, who also survive him: Frank Casalinuovo, Teresa Steinmetz (Mark), and Ann Lyle (Bradley). Frank thought the world of ALL of his grandchildren and was very proud of them all, no matter what path they took or will take in their lives. He had five treasured and headstrong grandsons: Frank, Brandon, Mark, Dominic, and Nathan. And he had two cherished and beloved granddaughters that he adored: Mai and Emily.

Frank was preceded in death by his mother, An, his father, Frank, and his two sisters, Rose Marei and Mary Ann.

Frank was employed as a teacher for 46 years. He began his teaching career in the United States Air Force. His officer rank was a sergeant, and he was a general education instructor for all incoming airmen at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi from 1961-1965. Frank also taught at numerous institutions throughout Northeastern Ohio including: the University of Akron, Kent State University, Ashland University, Medina County Career Center, and Cloverleaf High School.

Frank retired from teaching in June of 2007 and followed through with his dream of owning a small Italian market and catering business. Frank also was an athletic coach in the Akron and Medina areas. He coached boys' and girls' basketball at St. Sebastian and St. Hilary with CYO in the late 80's and early 90's; and at Walsh Jesuit High School and Buchtel High School in Akron in the 80's. He also coached girls' basketball for Cloverleaf High School in Lodi, OH, boys' football for St. Sebastian with CYO, and baseball in the Akron WABL
league.

Frank loved playing golf and was always out on the course with his buddies every summer. He loved to cook, as it was one of his passions, and was never afraid to let his family be his taste testers! Frank was always present in his grandchildren's lives, and he did whatever he could to care for them in any way that he knew how. He loved to ride his motorcycle as often as he could, and always enjoyed going out to eat with family every weekend. Frank also loved to watch sports, as he was a die-hard Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers and Browns fan. Frank was also an old movie buff - he loved watching old movies and having a snack every night. He also loved to watch his westerns movies and TV shows. Frank was also a very active person - he would always make it a point to wake up early every day and make plans with his family or would always run out for coffee and a donut, or breakfast with his beloved wife Jean.

Frank's wish was to have a private family service. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.

Should friends desire to contribute, in lieu of flowers, arrangements will be made to donate to Catholic Charities CYO Athletics, in his name at a later date. Please contact the family directly for any contribution plans.
