Barbara Karr

September 12, 1950 — November 1, 2021

Barbara J. Karr (Smith), born on September 12, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, was welcomed into eternal life on November 1, 2021. Barb was a graduate of St Mary's High School and attended the University of Akron. She began her long career at the M. O'Neill Company in downtown Akron, Ohio. She was employed as a buyer and in her position, she traveled to many destinations around the world. When she tired of the travel, she spent the remainder of her career as a retail manager for the company. Barb worked through several mergers and acquisitions, ending her long career with Macy's after over 40 years of service. Barb was dearly loved by her coworkers and customers, who witnessed her hard work, fun spirit, and kindness on a daily basis. Barb was a gentle and loving soul whose care and devotion to her family was her greatest passion. She was generous with her love and with gifts, showering her family and friends with both on a regular basis. Her nieces and nephews were her greatest joy. Barb cherished every moment spent with them, abundantly offering her support, encouragement and love. She will be lovingly remembered for her warm smile, infectious laugh, and sweet nature. Preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Winnie Smith, and brother Kenny Smith, she is survived by her loving husband, Kenny Karr of Akron; her siblings, Tony (Lisa) Smith of Cuyahoga Falls, Dave (Lori) Smith of Mansfield, Christine Petroff of Silver Lake;
sister-in-law, Audrey (Kenny) Humphrey of Florida; brother-in-law, Dave Petroff; nieces and nephews: Stephanie (Matt) Weiss; Lauren (Ana) Smith; Natalie (Ben) Sheppard; Isabella Petroff; Jeff (Erika) Smith; Tim (Stacy) Smith; Dan (Laura) Smith; and 10 great nieces and nephews.
A private ceremony will be held for the immediate family. Donations in Barb's name can be made to One of a Kind Pets in Akron, Ohio or a charity of your choice.
