Viola Moore

Viola Ladell Moore, a fierce, loving, and unforgettable presence in the lives of all who knew her, passed away peacefully on June 17th at the age of 82. Known to many simply as "Grandma," and "Aunt Vi", Viola's home and heart were open to all-a place where kindness lived alongside strength, and laughter was as abundant as wisdom.

Born to the late William Moore and Annie Jones, Viola was one of several children in a close-knit family. She now reunites with her beloved siblings Gerald Moore, Beaulah Criswell, Elizabeth Green, Willie Mae Woods, and Robert Moore, joining them in eternal rest with the same spirited energy she brought to every room in life.

She leaves behind a loving family who carry her legacy with pride: her devoted daughter Elaine Moore; her grandchildren Nakiasha Moore, Dominic Moore-Dunson, and Ashley Moore-Dunson; and her great-grandchildren Maverick and Naomi Moore-Dunson, who lit up her world with joy.

Viola is also survived by her brother Nathan Moore and sister Barbara Lyons, and by many generations of nieces and nephews in the Moore family, who cherished her as Aunt Viola-sharp-tongued, big-hearted, and always ready with a story or a smile.

Viola was a spitfire. She was a "take no mess" woman whose sharp wit and warm heart coexisted effortlessly. She could speak her mind one minute and pull you in for a hug the next. She was the one you wanted in your corner-firm, loving, and fiercely loyal.

She found joy in simple pleasures: tending to her garden, watching westerns, and swaying to the blues. But one of her greatest passions was supporting the dance journeys of her grandchildren.

Viola Ladell Moore's love stretched beyond bloodlines-she made everyone feel like family. Her legacy is one of resilience, tenderness, and a deep-rooted belief in showing up for those you love. She was, and forever will be, our Grandma.
