Thomas Quinn passed away August 4th, 2026 surrounded by family.
Tom Quinn lead a life of service to his family, career and God. Tom was born in Philadelphia, PA in December of 1947 and raised there until he left for a co-op opportunity as part of his education. He met his wife, Sharon in 1968 in Akron, Ohio at a youth adult group at St Sebastian Church. They wed the summer of 1970 and raised a family in west Akron. He was actively involved in lives of his children, Laura, Matthew, and Katie whether he was coaching their sports teams, helping them with homework or taking them on summer vacations.
Tom was intelligent on another level and favored mathematics. He graduated from Drexel University with a engineering degree in 1969. He spent his entire career as a mechanical engineer with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He worked for Goodyear for over 40 years with a loyalty and passion for improving efficiency and safety in retread plants. He also traveled the world during his career visiting over 30 countries including a year and a half residency in Brazil.
A practicing Catholic all his life, Tom committed himself to volunteering. He spent decades helping various organizations including the Summit County Suicide prevention hotline, Camp Quality, The American Red Cross and Holy Martyr's Catholic Church. His dedication had no boundaries including a trip to Saipan to help the less fortunate. His commitment to helping others was a lifelong passion that he executed on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. He also enjoyed and was the proud owner of three catamarans in addition to a 40' sailboat.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Eleanor and Thomas Quinn, brother; Michael Quinn. Tom is survived by his wife of 56 years; Sharon; children; Laura (Ben), Matthew (Meghan), and Katie (Zach), siblings; Patrick, Terry, and Mary Ellen, grandchildren; Sean, Kennedy, Aiden, Kai, Henry, Huey, Isaac, and Emma.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 10am located at 3100 Old Weymouth Rd. Medina, OH 44256. The family will receive guests at 9:00am at the church.
