Thomas J. Hazlett, 71, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on July 9, 2026.

Born in Ravenna, Ohio, on July 9, 1955, Tom spent many years serving others. He began his career at the Catholic Youth Organization of Summit County. After earning his license as a Counselor and Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, he worked at Community Support Services, Summit County Juvenile Court, and Stow Municipal Court.

He was preceded in death by his parents, June and Robert Hazlett, and his brothers, Bobby and Michael Hazlett. He is survived by his sisters, Doreen Hazlett and Darleen Beaver; his brother-in-law, Dan Beaver; his brother, David Hazlett; his nephew, Kyle James Beaver; and his nieces, Elise Salada Hazlett, Christine Hazlett, Kasey Whitsett and her husband, Dane; Kari Harris and her husband, Diego; and Sarah Hazlett and numerous cousins.

Family and friends will be received at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 164 W. Market St., on Friday, July 17, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2580 Romig Road, Akron. Family and friends are invited to gather for a luncheon at Doreen's home following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Peter Maurin Center, P.O. Box 1105, Hudson, OH 44236.
