Sybil Ann Kalail

Sybil Ann Foley-Kalail passed away peacefully at home with her loving family nearby on Friday September 26, 2026 at the age of 88. Friends and family will remember Sybil for her generosity towards others, love of hospitality, lively wit, conscientiousness, and sense of integrity.

As a lifelong resident of Akron who believed that the power of the government should be used to meet the needs of everyday people, Sybil dedicated her career to public service. She oversaw successful races for Akron mayor and United States Congress as campaign director and served for many years in the Ohio Secretary of State and Summit County Auditor's offices. During her tenure on the Summit County Planning Commission, she held firm to the view that economic development should not diminish our region's beauty and livability.

Sybil is survived by her loving and devoted husband of nearly thirty years Richard Kalail, sons David Wyatt, Michael Wyatt, and Bryan (Eddie Verdonk) Rosenblithe. She also leaves behind brother-in-law Dennis King, nephew Kevin (Sarah) King, great-nephew Benjamin King, and great-nieces Ella King, Maureen Renel, and Emma-Lou Marcq.

In the spirit of Sybil's love of food, drink, and fellowship, friends and family are invited to join to celebrate her life in the home she loved on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 2-5 pm at 3342 S. Smith Road in Fairlawn Ohio.
