Sumiko Powers

Sumiko Noyama Powers, 89 years, passed away on April 4, 2023. She was born on February 11, 1934 in Tokyo Japan to the late Matsunoske and Bun Noyama. She met and married her husband, Richard, in Tokyo while was working for Goodyear. They then moved to Fairlawn in 1975 to raise their family. Sumiko enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Preceded in death by her husband, Richard; sister, Shizu Noyama; brothers, Kokichi, Yoshio and Iwao Noyama; she is survived by her children, Bob (Amy) Powers and Dr. Laura (Dr. John) Carrick; grandchildren, Sophia and Shelby Powers and Angelina and Paul Carrick.

Memorial service will be 12:30pm Thursday, April 6, 2023 at First United Methodist Church of Akron (263 E. Mill St.) where friends may visit from 11:00am until service time. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
