Stephen J. Doerr 54 of Orion Michigan died July 4 following a long illness. Born in Akron Steve graduated from the University of Akron with bachelor's degrees in Education and in Electrical Engineering Technology. He was employed by B.F. Goodrich/Uniroyal/Michelin in Brecksville; Akron; and Troy Michigan and later with AEMS Automotive Engineering in Brighton. Until he moved to Michigan Steve lovingly cared for his father in their home. An avid outdoorsman Steve loved fishing camping and stargazing. He lived his life as he walked the trails: off the beaten path. The fruits of his walks were always baked in homemade berry pies that were the highlight of every family meal. His time spent tying flies netted many a delicious fish fry. Steve will be met in heaven by those who preceded him: his parents Anton and Helen; nephew Eric Rhodes; and brother-in-law Royce Kyle. Steve's gift to his friends and family was love. Leaving to miss his joyous laugh gentle humor are siblings Elizabeth (Jim) Rhodes Jim (Donna) Mary Louise Kyle Fred (Diana) and Bob (Martha). Numerous nieces nephews grandnieces and grandnephews will mourn a favorite uncle. Many very dear friends will miss Steve's place at the campsite at the office at the Chemo Treatment Center and his presence in their lives. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Steve's oncologists Dr. M.S. Shah and Dr. Sandra Hazra and their staffs. The sincerest thanks also go out to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service and all those in Michigan and Ohio who offered such wonderful support to Steve and his family. As testament to his generosity in life Steve has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Interval Brotherhood Home 3445 S. Main St. Akron OH 44319. The calling hours will be held on Thursday July 7 2005 from 4-8 PM at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at the Church of St. Eugene 1821 Munroe Falls Ave. Cuyahoga Falls OH officiated by the Rev. Neil Crosby. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
