Shirley Bullock

January 14, 1924 — March 9, 2008

Shirley L. Bullock 84 Bath resident for 57 years died at home on March 9 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband Merlen C. 'Len' and parents Cliff Ford and Etta Blaisdell. She is survived by her children Kenneth (Sandy) Bullock of Stow; Marilyn (Dale) Kanouse of Chicago IL; Constance Bullock of Bath who had the honor of caring for Mom when needed the past few years; grandchildren Timothy Bullock of Stow and Katherine Bullock of Baltimore MD; sisters Beverly Collins and Joyce Blaisdell of Napa CA and Gloria Goodsoozian of Fresno CA. Born on January 14 1924 in Lowell MA she attended Lowell Teacher's College before her marriage on June 12 1944 at which time they moved to Akron. While raising her family she taught Sunday School at Bath Church of Christ for many years and participated in Cub Scouts Brownies Girl Scouts and 4-H. Throughout the years Mom was involved in many clubs and organizations including Bath Good Time Club (and served as the program director for a number of years) Evening Guild Friends of the Richfield Library Worthwhile Club Fairlawn City Garden Club Akron Woman's City Club D.A.R. City Hospital Rummage Sale and PEO. She enjoyed working at the Board of Elections at voter registration and as an election poll worker. Mom loved her home gardening watching the birds in her backyard writing letters to friends and family doing Tai Chi chocolate and discussing politics. She was a loving Mom and beloved friend to many. Please join the family for a reception on Saturday March 22 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Bath United Church of Christ 3980 West Bath Road. Private interment has taken place at Moore's Chapel Cemetery in Bath. For those who desire memorial donations may be made to the Bath Fire Dept. 3864 W. Bath Road Akron Ohio 44333.
