Ruth Kauffman, age 92, of Stockbridge, Georgia, went to heaven to be with Jesus on Wednesday, January 1st, 2025.
Ruth was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on February 5, 1933 to the late Maxine and Arthur Sampson. She married John Donston in 1951, who preceded her in death. She later married Clifford Kauffman in 1984, who survives.
Ruth was a graduate of New Castle High School, where she played the piano in the school orchestra and enjoyed accompanying other student musicians for competitions. She also accompanied her brother while he played guitar. Ruth was a member of the Rainbows and participated in music competitions.
Ruth worked many years as an operator for Bell Telephone, and in the medical field as a phlebotomist, lab tech, EKG tech, and medical assistant. She enjoyed reading, painting, and playing the piano and organ. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, Georgia, and played the organ for several churches through the years.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Maxine and Arthur Sampson, her first husband John Donston, her brother, Richard (Maxine) Sampson, brother-in-law Richard Harris Sr., grandson David Maxwell, grandson John Russell Donston III, and niece Sheryl Harris.
Ruth is survived by her children: Karen (Wes) Hettinger of Niles, OH; LuAnn (Brad) Teague of Paris, OH; John R. (Kathy) Donston II of Norton, OH; Barbara Kelly of Stockbridge, GA; and step-children, Brenda Kauffman of Goshen, IN; Cheryl (Roger) Outland of LaVernia, TX; Karen (Eric) McCormick of Newnan, GA; and Susan (David) Winn of Dayton, OH. She is also survived by her siblings, Kenneth (Pearl) Sampson, Charles (Marlene) Sampson, and Linda Harris, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will fondly remember and cherish her.
No formal service at this time, but a memorial will be held in Ohio at a later date. Ruth's family is grateful for your love and support during this time of mourning and remembrance.
