Russell Clifton Schoonover

April 10, 1943 — June 14, 2026

Russell Clifton Schoonover, age 83, of Medina, Ohio passed away peacefully in his sleep and into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on June 14, 2026.

Russ was born in Olean, New York on April 10, 1943 as an only child. He graduated from Bolivar Central High School in 1961. Russ continued his education at St. Bonaventure University where he earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1965.

Russ married Laurel Schoonover (Haas) on October 31, 1982, and together they raised three wonderful children. He spent his career in industrial equipment sales, while pursuing a wide range of interests throughout his life. He enjoyed history, mathematics, physics, building and repairing things, lifelong learning, and anything and everything computer-related. His curiosity, resourcefulness, and quick wit made him a true jack-of-all-trades. In his later years, one of his greatest joys was becoming a grandfather. His granddaughter, Lila, brought a special light into his life and brightened his days in countless ways.

Russ is survived by his wife, Laurel, along with their three children, Daniel (Chelsea), Brian (Kimberly) and Kelsey, and his granddaughter Lila.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Marjorie Schoonover, and his former wife, Carol Schoonover (Ferraro) and their unborn daughter, Cara.

Dad, we love and miss you so much already. You were the best father we could have all asked for. You were a wealth of knowledge, so we always came to you for your opinions and advice even if you "didn't know". Thank you so much for the lifetime of mentoring and love. It is not goodbye, but rather see you later. We know Lacey has been waiting to see you.

A private funeral service will be held for immediate family.
