Robert Trockle

Robert A. Trockle of Akron passed away peacefully on his 89th birthday Wednesday April 10 2013. Bob was born in Akron to the late Alfred and Ludwina Trockle. Bob graduated from St. Vincent High School where he played football and was inducted into the Irish Sports Hall Of Fame. Bob proudly served his country in the 5th Army during WWII seeing action in North Africa and Italy. After the war he graduated from the University of Akron and joined B.F. Goodrich where he retired after 40 years in sales management. Bob was a longtime active member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. During his retirement he enjoyed volunteering reading and sports especially his grandchildren's games. Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years Mary Ellen daughter Elizabeth (William) Pfeiffer grandchildren Meghan (Timothy) Effinger Robert (Megan) Pfeiffer Timothy Pfeiffer and great grandson Lucas Effinger. He is also survived by his sister Margaret (Raymond) Buehrle and many nieces and nephews. Bob is predeceased by his parents sister and brother-in-law Rosemary and Gene Rowland and many close friends. Visitation will be held on Friday April 12 2013 from 5-7 PM at the Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Akron. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday April 13 2013 11AM at St. Sebastian Catholic Church 476 Mull Ave. Akron 44320. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Sebastian's Foundation or St. Sebastian's St. Vincent de Paul Society.
