Robert Joseph Morris Jr. of Akron, Ohio entered into eternal life on January 18, 2026, at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, and by his seven children, twenty-three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Bob's worldly achievements are abundant, but in life they were known to only a few. His perfect test scores, his collegiate baseball career, his degree in mathematics, his masters degree in Education, his Doctorate in Law, his time as an officer in the United States Army, his election to City Council, his sharp legal mind, his multiple law practices...to name just a few. But none of these ever defined him, nor did any of them ever seem to matter much to him.
But everyone who ever met Bob Morris knew that his personal love-relationship with Jesus and his commitment to his Catholic faith were the epicenter of his life. THIS is what defined him. This is what mattered to him.
And every adult decision he ever made were made with one criterion in mind. What will bring me and my family closest to God, both here and now, and for all eternity in heaven?
These faith-filled decisions that flowed from his core identity, sent Bob and Sharon on countless adventures over fifty-eight years of marriage....including moving from downtown Cleveland, Ohio, to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Akron, Ohio, to Clarkston, Michigan, to Steubenville, Ohio, and finally back to Akron.
Here are some of Bob's attributes and habits that his family will forever cherish:
- He was Present
... he was simply always there. Including every night at family dinner, every child's event, and even weekly family meetings!
- He Pursued the Truth
... through rational debate, philosophical discussions, and Biblical references.
- He Loved the Poor and those who Suffered
... our dinner table, home, and car often had at least one unusual guest present whom he was serving at the time. We have no doubt; he is now celebrating with his favorites in heaven.
- His Idea of Success was other-worldly
... wealth was never his goal, but his family always had what we needed. We had no idea whether we were rich or poor. Just as he wished!
- He was a full-time Evangelist for his faith
... he never missed an opportunity to share his faith in Jesus, boldly. Including with hitchhikers, bartenders, and his children's friends!
- He was Kind
... to all. And In his later years-especially-he prioritized tenderness and mercy as expressions of his love.
- He was Humble and Funny
... his wit and humor were sharp and constant. And he died as he lived, next to his Sharon. One of his last lines before passing was addressed to his children. "what a life!", he said, with a gentle smile.
Robert Joseph Morris Jr. was preceded in death by his loving parents, Robert and Agnes Morris, and his two older sisters Roberta and Agnes.
Bob's wife, Sharon, and their seven children Joy (Chris), Joseph (Darcy), Jonathan (Kaitlyn), Mary Hope (Mike), Christine (Brad), Anne Marie (Leanne), and Bobby are thankful for your prayers and closeness in these days of grieving.
