Ray Stone, 65, lived a life rooted in faith, family, service, and harmony. He passed away on October 12, 2025. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he took great pride in his family and the joy they brought him.
A devout Catholic, Ray was a deeply engaged member of St. Sebastian parish. He served on Parish Council for many years, was a Sponsor Coordinator for RCIA, and found his passion for singing as a member of the Music Ministry. He was also a proud Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, embodying the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism.
Music was one of Ray's lifelong passions. As a dedicated member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, he sang with the Akron Chapter and many quartets including his most recent, Pitch Blend. His warm voice, genuine camaraderie, and humor brought joy to countless performances, while his leadership helped to foster fellowship within the barbershop community.
Ray had a gift for connection; he truly never met a stranger. He had a habit of making friends with just about every person he met, taking time to get to know them in a sincere and genuine way whether on stage, on the golf course, or in his professional life.
Ray started his own tax business that grew into a successful family affair. A life-long learner, his integrity, compassion, and dedication to helping others were the hallmarks of his work.
Beyond his professional and musical life, Ray was known for his generosity, his quick wit, and his steadfast friendships. He cherished his time spent golfing, singing, and gathering with those he loved most.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Paul L. Stone and Jane C. Stone. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Mary; his children, Natalie (John Fritz), Jeremy (Addie Cheges), Melanie (Brian Sexton); and his grandchildren; Paige, Elliott, and Claire. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings, Paula Tucker, Tom (Rae), Mike (Ann), Janet (Bob Bard); and many in-laws and nieces and nephews.
