Nick DelMatto

Nick J. DelMatto 87 of Akron passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 11 2011. Nick was born in Akron on June 6 1924 and lived here all his life. He was a graduate of North High School in 1942 and attended the University of Akron. Nick was a member of St. Martha's Church and was active in the St. Vincent De Paul Society and also served as a funeral assistant. He served with the US Navy Submarine Fleet during WWII. Nick also retired from Goodrich Chemical after 38 years of service. Nick was preceded in death by his parents Angelo and Ernestine (Calderaro) DelMatto daughter Angela Cargill and brother Dominick. He is survived by daughters Leanore (Mike-deceased) Parasson of Akron Jeanette (Richard) Broda of Silver Lake son Nick of Logan 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff and friends at Mulberry Gardens for all their help and support over the last 6 years. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday October 14 2011 11 AM at Blessed Trinity (formerly St. Martha's Catholic Church) 300 E. Tallmadge Ave. Akron OH 44310. Internment in Mount Peace Cemetery to follow. The family will receive friends on Thursday October 13 5-7 PM at the Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Akron 44304. Memorial donations may be made to Mulberry Gardens 395 S. Main St. Munroe Falls OH 44262 in memory of Nick.
