It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peggy, our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched on December 19, 2020. Mom was born in Brownsville, Pa. on February 24, 1932. Her family migrated across the Ohio River to the small town of Toronto, Ohio in her early years. She graduated from Toronto High school in the class of 1949. Following her life’s ambition, she ceremoniously graduated from the Akron People’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. Soon afterward she began her career as a public health nurse in Summit County. After meeting her soon to be husband, Jack, Peggy went on to become a nursing supervisor at Akron General Medical Center, primarily working nights and weekends in order to care for her family. She loved being a nurse and was devoted to AGMC. After 30 years of service, Peggy retired with Jack to enjoy their remaining years together. Peggy was preceded in death by her late husband Jack, and her son John, both of whom she missed dearly. She is survived by her brother, Samuel Crawford of Toronto, Ohio, daughter, Marianne, and her son Thomas (Pamela). Peggy was most proud of and cared dearly for her two grandchildren; Nina and Robert, always keeping them close in her heart. Although Peggy entered assisted living for memory care in 2018, she remained healthy and steadfast until the final week of her life when she was taken too early by the Covid-19 virus. Because of the circumstances surrounding the pandemic, no services will be held. Peggy will be interred and reunited with Jack at the Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
