Michael John Dolan, 74, passed away on May 30, 2025, in Akron, Ohio, surrounded by love. His final days were spent in comfort and peace in his home, receiving the most compassionate care while watching movies and tasting fine wines with his family.
Born on August 10, 1950, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Michael was the son of Elizabeth and James Dolan. He earned a degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, which laid the foundation for a distinguished career as a scientist and leader.
Michael dedicated more than three decades to GOJO Industries, Inc., where he held various roles. His colleagues admired his deep knowledge, analytical mind, and commitment to innovation. Known for his dry humor and sharp intellect, he brought clarity and levity to even the most technical discussions.
Outside of work, Mike was an avid reader with a lifelong love of learning. He had a fondness for old cars, world travel and a great glass of wine. Not one to be idle, he could always be found tinkering with tools and machinery. His wit-often biting and always well-timed-was a hallmark of his personality. He was generous with advice and always ready to lend a hand.
Among his many roles in life, Mike most cherished being "Papa" to his three grandchildren. He delighted in their company and treasured every moment spent with them. His presence brought warmth and laughter to family gatherings.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sandra Dolan (née Carson); his son, Christopher Dolan; daughter, Anne Wenner and her husband Steve; three cherished grandchildren Ellie, Emma and Evie; many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Gerald; sister Ann; infant daughter Kathryn; and other loved ones whose memories he held dear.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to any charity in honor of Michael J Dolan.
Family will receive guests on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd, Copley, OH. Visitation will be 10:00am-1:00pm, with funeral service to follow at 1:00pm.
Michael's legacy lives on through the family he loved and the many lives he touched with wisdom, humor, and generosity. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
