Maurice W. Radcliffe Jr.

November 2, 1939 — March 17, 2023

Maurice W. Radcliffe Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully and flew to Jesus on March 17, 2023. He was born in Warren, Ohio to Rev. Maurice and Margaret Radcliffe. Maury married Wilma "Willie" (Mills) Radcliffe on July 24, 1965 at Grace Gospel Church, Ravenna, OH and she survives. Maury is also survived by daughters, Melinda "Mindy" Houglan (Brad)of Doylestown OH, Melissa "Missy" Weisbarth (Ed) of Norton, OH and 3 grandsons who were the joy of his life - Austin Houglan, Devin Weisbarth, and Dustan Weisbarth. Also surviving is his sister Ann Radcliffe Mann (Jerry-deceased) of Marietta Ga. and many nieces and nephews. While Maury & Willie had no sons of their own, their son-in-laws, Ed & Brad, were their beloved sons.

Maury was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Maurice Radcliffe Sr. & Margaret Hughes Radcliffe.

Maury was a resident at The Village of St. Edward in Wadsworth, OH for the last several months of his life. He was blessed to be cared for by many dedicated and loving caretakers. He especially appreciated, as did his family, the loving attention given to him by:Allie, Angel, Danielle, Denise, Jessica, Maddie, Misty, Patty, Sherry, Stanette, Tyler(his Bingo buddy) and many others. He will be missed by his beloved friend across the hall.

He so much appreciated his "personal" barber, Ryan, who faithfully cut his hair and trimmed his beard in his apartment at St. Edward's.

Maury served in the USAF Security Service and was honorably discharged December 11, 1965. He was a pharmaceutical representative for Wm. S. Merrell, then became a licensed insurance agent with his own Agency for many years.

He loved sports and pitched slow pitch softball in the USAF and later on in other leagues. He was an avid bowler, golfer, and fisherman and shared those loves with his grandsons.

Music was a huge part of Maury's life. He sang with a "bowling" Men's Barbershop quartet in Wadsworth as well as singing in the choir. He and Willie often sang duets in their various churches through the years. He was responsible for running sound, recording services, etc. for many years at his church. God was a focal point in his life. As he neared his homegoing, he spent hours listening to worship music and 50's & 60's songs. Maury was a member of Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Akron.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Holy Spirit Anglican Church ,1446 S. Main St. Akron, OH 44301 on April 10, 2023, at 7:00 PM, Fr. Scott Souders officiating . The doors will open at 6:30 PM

Maurice will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH 44273 on Monday, April 10, 2023 at 11:15 AM.
