VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE Mary Cox 81 of Akron died December 13 2004 at Hospice Care Center. Mary was a charter member of St. Sebastian Parish and was a member of the first graduating class of St. Sebastian School in 1937. She graduated from Buchtel High School where she was a member of the National Honors Society. Mary attended the University of Akron where she graduated with a Secretarial Science degree in 1945 and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She was voted as The Outstanding Senior Woman and was president of Mortar Board. Mary was employed at Firestone Research until 1947 when she married Albert and became a homemaker and full-time mother to her three sons. She rejoined the work force in 1975 at the Bureau of Employment Services. Mary's favorite past time was playing bridge. Throughout the years she continued to play with her high school alumni. She was a member of St. Sebastian and Christ Child Society bridge flights. In addition she also taught bridge to her friends and neighbors. She was a long-time member of Montrose Swim Club and continued to have monthly lunches with the ''Shady Ladies.'' She was an avid collector and shopper and enjoyed reliving her memories through her many scrapbooks. Mary loved to travel with her family and visited 48 states. She loved to celebrate holidays especially Christmas and St. Patrick's Day. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Albert son Gerald and brother Paul Snearline. She is survived by her sons Robert (Janet) Cox Macedonia and Daniel (Eileen) Cox Akron grandsons; Ryan Michael Josh and Matthew. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday December 17 2004 at 10:00 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Interment in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY 3475 Copley Rd. on Thursday from 3-8 pm. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Assn. or Alzheimers Foundation.
