Mary Loftus

Mary J. Loftus passed away early January 7, 2026. Mary was born and raised in Akron, Ohio having graduated from St. Sebastian grade school and St. Vincent High School. She was also a graduate of Mercy College in Detroit, MI where she earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing. Mary was a lifelong member of St. Sebastian's Catholic Church where she also was a Eucharistic Minister and scheduler for masses.

Mary worked at St. Thomas Hospital and Akron City Hospital for almost 40 years until retirement.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mildred Loftus.

Mary is survived by her sister Ann Loftus and many cousins from the Loftus and McGraw families along with many friends.

Mary and Ann enjoyed travelling the world several times over and both cherished their travels together. Mary was an outstanding sister and will be forever missed by Ann.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11am at St. Sebastian Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11am. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Sebastian Parish Foundation C/O the William and Mildred Loftus Memorial Scholarship Fund, 476 Mull Ave., Akron OH 44320.
