Mary Klein

October 24, 1913 — January 14, 2008

VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE Mary Katherine (Mary Kay) Klein (Knapp) died peacefully on January 14th at The Ledges of Rockynol. Mother was born on Oct. 24 1913 in Massillon Ohio the daughter of Charles F. and Madeline (Rebholz) Knapp. She always said she 'came in with the flood.' She attended St. Mary's School in Massillon graduated from Mt. Marie Academy (Central Catholic) in Canton and received a teaching certificate from Kent State University. She taught in the Massillon and Akron Public Schools until her marriage to Gerald H. Klein on June 30 1945. Mother was devoted to her church and family. She was a member of St. Sebastian Church for over sixty years. She belonged to the Legion of Mary Sanctuary Society Mother of Sorrows Choir and the St. Jude Study Club. She was always there to support her children and grandchildren with prayers and chocolate chip cookies in all their endeavors. She was also a Notre Dame fan who was proud that her husband son and granddaughter were graduates. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Gerald H. Klein Sr. her brother Charles F. X. Knapp and all her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She is survived by her children Gerald H. (Elaine) Klein of Lawrenceville IL. Mary Kay (Frank) Danckaert of Akron and Maribeth (Guerrino) Rich of Stow. She leaves her precious grandchildren Brenda Klein Rita (Chris) Taylor Rebecca (James) Hinkel Joseph and Mary Theresa Rich and step-grandchildren Alissa (Joseph) Skovira Carl (Emily) Danckaert and Mary (James) Chase along with eight delightful step-great grandchildren who visited her at Rockynol and fed the fish but not the mean geese. In the last days of her life she was visited by the newest arrival great-grandson Caleb Noah Hinkel. She will also miss her dear niece Kathleen (Gordon) Ewers and special friends Maralyn Yanko and Mary Leuca. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Rockynol and Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service for their gentle care. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday January 16 2008 10 AM at St. Sebastian Catholic Church 476 Mull Ave. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E.
