Mary Louise Hilkert (nee Ahern), devoted wife and mother, passed away on August 16, 2015 with family at her side. She was born on November 11, 1921 in Akron, Ohio. She was a graduate of Our Lady of the Elms Elementary School and St. Vincent High School, graduating in 1939. She received a B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Akron in 1943. On August 4, 1945, she married William Albert Hilkert shortly after his release as a German prisoner of war in WW II. Bill and Mary Louise recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. A woman of deep faith, she devoted her life to her husband and her family. Her generosity and care for others extended to her volunteer work at St. Sebastian Parish, her service on the Women's Board at St. Thomas Hospital, and her leadership as President of the Parents' Association at St. Vincent -St. Mary High School. Mary Louise was preceded in death by her parents Emma Cornille Ahern and William Francis Ahern, her sister Flora Goggin and her brothers William Ahern and Joseph Ahern. Mary Louise is survived by her husband William; children Barbara Andolsen, Sister Mary Catherine Hilkert, O.P., David (Phyllis) Hilkert, Mark Hilkert, Rebecca Hilkert, Patricia (Thomas) Mancino, Anne (David) Schaub, Robert (Deborah) Hilkert, Christine Hilkert , and Albert (Jennifer) Hilkert; seventeen grandchildren Daniel, Ruth, Elizabeth, Sarah, Gregory David, Kristen, Mark Adam, Brian, Benjamin, Katherine, Patrick, Melissa, Gregory Mark, Eric, William, Bennett, Meredith, and four great-grandchildren Brooke, Jack, Jacquelyn, and McKenzie. Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road, Copley, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Vincent Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Elms School, 1375 W.
