Mark Anthony Stebenne, 57, passed away on June 25th, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 28, 1968, in New York State as Mark Anthony Ayers, he was adopted by Ronald Stebenne on February 4, 1983, in the Worcester, Massachusetts Courthouse where his name was changed to Mark Stebenne. Mark attended Northbridge High School in Whitinsville, Massachusetts. After high school, Mark joined the Marines. Following a short time in the military, Mark held various employment positions but eventually found a love for opticianry and became an Optician at Costco in Sarasota, Florida. While working at Costco, Mark enjoyed building relationships with members, the friendship of his coworkers, and is where he met Mary Ellen Flynn, whom he later married.
Mark Stebenne is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Stebenne of North Canton, Ohio; his father, Ronald Stebenne of Kennesaw, Georgia; his brother John Stebenne of Haverhill, Massachusetts; his brother Ruben Stebenne of Uxbridge, Massachusetts; stepson Scott Christiansen (Brandy), stepdaughter Ellen Christiansen (Stan), and granddaughter Riley. Mark loved sports, dogs and his work at Costco, where he had a genuine interest in helping others. He will be missed by many and remembered always for his kindness.
Mark's family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by Crossroads Hospice during the last difficult weeks of his life. Mark's family is appreciative of the kindness, support, and compassion extended to Mark and Mary Ellen following his diagnosis and during treatment from friends and colleagues at Costco in Sarasota. Mark will be cremated according to his wishes and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
