Marjorie Lenore Arnold 86 of Akron died April 26 2010 at Rockynol Retirement Community. She was born in Bellevue OH on July 13 1923 and grew up in Akron. Marjorie attended Westminster College in New Wilmington PA and graduated from the University of Akron. She taught home economics for 25 yrs in N. Canton City Schools. Marjorie was a founding member of The Akron Symphony Chorus and served as secretary for many years. She was a volunteer for Summa Health System-Akron City Hospital. Marjorie loved word puzzles scrabble and cross-stitching. She managed Blueberry Hill Stitchery for 12 years during her retirement. Marjorie was an active member of Goodyear Heights United Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon E. Arnold; brother Robert L. Wolfe; and her step-son Robert G. Arnold. Marjorie is survived by her daughter Marlys (Vernon) Hershberger; step-daughter Barbara (James) Amacher; step-son Mark Arnold; grandchildren Jonathan Hershberger Nathan Hershberger and Meghan (John) LaGuardia Karen (Steve) Myers and Brian (Mary) Amacher Cheryl (Chris) Oracec; sister Gloria (Harold) Wharton; nieces Nancy and Julie Wharton; and numerous great-grandchildren great-niece and great-nephew. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday May 1 2010 11 AM at Fairlawn-West United Church of Christ 2095 W. Market Street with The Reverend Dr Paul M. Musser and Reverend Sue Tinker officiating. Private interment in Hillside Memorial Park. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home 500 East Exchange Street Akron on Friday April 30 2010 from 5-8 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Akron Symphony Chorus 17 N. Broadway Akron OH 44308 or New Wilmington Mission Conference Foundation 319 S. Market St. New Wilmington PA 16142.
