Marie Marino

Marie A. Marino, 82, passed away peacefully on July 4 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Akron to Jasper and Marie Eisele, Marie is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Jim. Deeply mourning the loss of her mother is her daughter, Gigi and son-in-law Christopher Kostoff. Greatly missing their Nana are her dear grandchildren Jonathan, Nathaniel and Matthew. Marie graduated from Our Lady of the Elms, and received her associate degree from the University of Akron. A beautiful woman, she began her working life as a model for the Powers Agency in New York City and Paris, modeling hats, gloves and purses. Later she also worked at O'Neil's department store, and as a medical assistant in the practices of Drs. P.Z. Arapakis and Ned Gould. Marie was a lifelong member of Annunciation Church and faithfully served its St. Anne Society as a volunteer. She also enjoyed her membership in the Society of Medical Assistants and the O'Neil's Retiree Club. Always energetic and lively, Marie's favorite activities involved being with her family: shopping with her daughter Gigi, family trips to the beach, taking long walks in the park with Jim, gardening, and spending as much time as she could with her grandsons. Her vibrant and loving presence in her family's lives will truly be missed. The family will celebrate Marie's life at a Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday, July 10 at 10 a.m. at Annunciation Visitation of Mary Church, 87 Broad Street, Akron, with Father Jonathan Zingales officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A private interment will follow at a later date.
