Marianne Schubert

Marianne Schubert, 63, of Copley, Ohio, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at home. Born Mary Ann Colella, to Edna Diane (Donnelly) and Carl Colella, she was raised in Linden, N.J., with her sister Carolyn. She resided in Clark, N.J., for over 20 years, where she dedicated her life to serving others in healthcare. She achieved her MS in Nursing, specializing in Health Care Instruction. Mrs. Schubert proudly served as a volunteer at the Clark First Aid Squad before serving as an Emergency Room nurse and Mobile Intensive Care Unit nurse and paramedic at JFK and RWJ University Hospitals. She would eventually become the Lead Skills Instructor for the Paramedics Program and the Coordinator of the Nursing Skills and Simulation Lab at Union County College. One of Marianne’s proudest calls to action was being a 9/11 first responder at Ground Zero. Marianne loved nothing more than to entertain family and friends for holidays and other celebrations. In her youth, she enjoyed spending summers at the beach among family in Newport, R.I. She also spread her love as a proud owner to a number of rescue dogs. Marianne was a devoted mother to Mr. Gregory Genega and his wife, Kimberly, of Ohio; Ms. Jaclyn Genega of Amsterdam, NL, and Mrs. Jennifer Sweet and her husband, Aaron, of New York. She was also the cherished grandmother to Sydney Sweet. She is survived by her dear sister Mrs. Carolyn Nicoll and her husband, James, and their two sons James and Brett of Cranford, N.J. Mrs. Schubert was also the beloved wife of 14 years to the late Mr. George Schubert and stepmother to daughter Mrs. Lynda Beth Underwood and her husband, Andy, and son Mr. Greg Schubert and his wife, Stacey. Marianne and George are also survived by their grandchildren, Eryka, Matthew, and Ryan. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the calling hours at the Walter J. Johnson Funeral Home, 803 Raritan Rd., Clark, N.J., on Saturday, September 19, from 1 to 4 p.m.
