Marian Bickley

Marian Louise Wedd Bickley, of Copley, OH., passed away at the age of 95 on November 19th 2025. Born in Clay County, Kansas on December 21, 1929 to William and Mabel Austin Wedd, Marian celebrated her 95th birthday with her entire family this past December.

Marian married the love of her life, Theodore Grant Bickley on June 10, 1951. They were married for 53 years. She lived a life of service to her family and church.

Marian was known for her unwavering kindness, her warm laugh, her Pecan Rolls and her extraordinary talent as a quilter.

For almost four decades, she stitched more than 400 beautiful quilts that are cherished memories for friends, neighbors, and loved ones. Each piece she created told a story - from baby blankets that welcomed new life to intricate heirlooms passed down through generations. Her church sewing group was more than a hobby group; it was a community she nurtured with love, and endless encouragement.

Marian graduated from Akron University with a bachelor's degree in education. She started her teaching career later in life, having been a minister's wife until 1965. She ended teaching first and second grades for many years at Indian Springs and Arrowhead elementary schools in Copley.

Marian was preceded in death by her loving husband, Theodore; her parents; her sister, Ruth (Schubert) Parkinson, brother Ralph (Jacque) Wedd and sister Mildred (Don) McKale who raised her after her parent's death, two nieces, Ellen (McKale) Dolezal and Traci Jo (Nelson) Tieskotter.

She is survived by two children, Ted Sr. (Bev) Bickley of Copley, Janice (Lew) Page of Canton; grandsons; Ted Jr. (Kelly) Bickley and Scott (Lindsey) Bickley; grandchildren Teddy, Russell, Anna, Tanner, Nathaniel, and Thackery; sister/niece, Georgia (Ordell) Matzdorff, Coleene Havens, brother/nephew, Don (Jan) McKale and many nieces and nephews.

A showing will be held at the Hummel Funeral home in Copley located at 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, OH 44321 on Saturday, November 29 from 2-4pm. A memorial service will be held at Fairlawn-West United Church of Christ located at 2095 W. Market St. Akron, OH 44313 Sunday November 30 at 1pm.
