Margaret Jean Jones (nee Brooks), 86, of Bath, Ohio, passed away on May 21, 2026. She was born on August 8, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Margaret will be remembered for her love for the Lord and quiet, encouraging spirit. She was a talented seamstress and loved planting her vegetable garden and cooking favorite recipes. She was a member of Church of the Open Door in Elyria, Ohio for many years, where she enjoyed being involved in Sunday School and Bible studies. She was very involved in doing activities and outings with the friends in her women's club. She loved music, particularly The Gaithers, and taught piano out of her home for several years. She also helped with a weekly church service at The Inn at Chappel Creek Assisted Living. Margaret had a love for words and reading, which she passed on to her daughter, Holly. Margaret would spend countless hours helping her daughter study for many spelling bees over the years. Every morning Margaret could be found reading her Bible alongside her husband Vern.
Margaret graduated from West Tech High School in Cleveland in 1957 and attended Central Bible College. In 1972, she married Vernon A. Jones, Jr in Cleveland. Not long after they were married, they moved to Vermilion, Ohio, where they resided for over 50 years. She had her own tax business and typing business for many years. She also worked as a secretary for many different companies. Her last position was with The Amherst Office on Aging, where she loved driving elderly residents to doctor appointments and grocery stores.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Vernon, of Bath; her daughter, Holly Signorino (Tony) of Copley; three step-grandchildren, Anna Signorino, Anthony Signorino and Maria Signorino; her brother, Daniel Brooks (Nancy), of Parma; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Campbell Brooks in 1979 and Margaret Dragony Brooks in 1993.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, at 10:00 AM at Grace Church Montrose (565 S. Cleveland Massillon Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333). Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 26, 5-7 PM at Hummel Funeral Home (2800 W. Market St., Fairlawn, OH 44333).
