Margaret Endres

December 30, 1919 — January 26, 2008

(Margaret) Lucrete Endres (Arrington) one of the kindest and gentlest souls God ever created passed away on Jan. 26 at Akron City Hospital. She was 88. She was born Dec. 30 1919 in Texas Georgia to Mary Ann (Hardy) and O.C. Arrington who preceded her in death. She moved to Akron as a young girl later graduating from East High School in 1937. She served as an editor of the school newspaper and as class salutorian. In high school she met her future husband Frank Endres and they were married on Nov. 7 1941. During World War II Lucrete attended business school and worked in the time study department of Goodrich. After the war she and Frank worked together to own and operate the BonTon Bakery on Lovers Lane and later North Hill Recreation a bowling center on North Main Street. Frank retired in 1999 as proprietor of Midway Lanes on Tallmadge Avenue. They lived for more than 50 years in a home they built on Indianola Avenue in Goodyear Heights. Lucrete was an active bowler and she loved to play cards and go fishing with friends in Canada and at the family's cottage on Berlin Reservoir. She was a volunteer at Akron hospitals a member of the Akron Junior Women's Civic Club and a deaconess and elder at Emmanuel United Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Faye Bradley; and grandsons Jamie Endres and Ricky Bradley. She is survived by her husband of 66 years Frank; son and daughter-in-law Fred and Kitty Endres of Kent; grandchildren Stephanie Endres of Akron and Jon Endres of Kent; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Kidney and Norma Lindsay of Tucson Ariz.; and dear family friend Ruth Jackson of Akron. The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses doctors and staff who cared for Lucrete at the Acute Palliative Care Unit at City Hospital and at Falls Village. Lucrete's life will be celebrated at a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday Feb. 2 2008 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ 1480 Eastwood Ave. Akron. Pastor Jay Schmidt will lead the service. There are no calling hours and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Emmanuel United Church of Christ.
