Marcella Hansel

A lifelong resident of the Akron, OH area and retired teacher of 30 years at Akron Public Schools, passed peacefully March 13 at The Village of St. Edward in Wadsworth.

Marcy is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Gary Hansel; her two daughters - Dr. Cindy (Brian Blunt) Hansel and Victoria (Sean) Grady; grandchildren Devon, Walden, and Rowan Grady and Connor and Kai Blunt; her sister Annette Marcinkoski; and brother Frank (Martha) Marcinkoski. She will be dearly missed by in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, co-workers and friends.

A Valedictorian at Garfield High School (1958), Marcy went on to receive Bachelor and Master's Degrees from Akron University where she was a proud Alpha Delta Pi sorority member. While at Akron U. she was selected as a Community Ambassador to Brazil and traveled there to live with a family in Sao Paolo. This began a lifelong love of traveling that included trips to six continents, dozens of countries, and a majority of the United States. An avid baker, golfer, and bridge player, Marcy was also a dedicated member of The Christ Child Society of Akron.

She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Barbara Marcinkoski; and her sister Irene (Jim) Hammontree.

Visitation will be held 5:00 - 7:00pm, WEDNESDAY, March 25, at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd., Copley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated THURSDAY, March 26, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1676 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Copley. Interment to immediately follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 280 Romig Rd, Akron.
