Sister M. Hyacinth Brennan, the former Elizabeth Brennan, died on May 5, 2014 at Regina Health Center at the age of 90. She was in her 68th year of religious profession. Sister was born on January 19, 1924 and was the daughter of Joseph and Barbara Fisher Brennan. She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic of Akron, now Dominican Sisters of Peace, from Sacred Heart Church, Toledo, OH on September 8, 1944 and made profession of vows on September 1, 1946. For many years Sister Hyacinth worked in food service at Holy Trinity, Bucyrus, Ohio; St. Augustine, Barberton; St. Joseph, Mantua and Our Lady of the Elms Preschool and Motherhouse. From 1989-2001 she worked at Our Lady of the Elms Wellness Center as well as performed community service at the motherhouse. Because of health reasons, Sister Hyacinth retired to Regina Health Center, Richfield in January 2004. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Jean, nephews James and William and niece, Nancy (Brent) Kahler all of Toledo. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert. Sister Hyacinth enjoyed the great outdoors by camping, hiking, biking and swimming as well as listening to classic music. Those who knew her, loved her gentle spirit and her infectious laugh. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Elms Convent, 1230 W. Market St., Akron, OH on Wednesday, May 7, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. with a Wake Service at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at the Elms Chapel on Thursday, May 8 at 9:30 a.m. followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
