Linda Wyant

July 25, 1953 — October 23, 2025

Linda Sue Wyant, age 72, of Akron, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly due to a sudden illness on October 23, 2025. Born July 25, 1953, in Elgin, Illinois, to Robert and Marion (Gray) Wyant. Linda lived a life marked by compassion, achievement, and devotion to her family and community.

Though born in Illinois, Linda spent most of her life living in Iowa. The second oldest of seven children, she grew up in Waterloo, Iowa and graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1971. Linda gave birth to her son Mason in Cedar Rapids, and spent many years in Des Moines as Mason grew up.

Linda had a successful corporate career for many years before dedicating herself to service at the United Methodist Church in the mid-2000s, including her cherished Grace Church in Des Moines, Iowa. As a Steven Minister for more than ten years, she touched many lives with her kindness and support. In retirement, Linda worked at Macy's and loved shopping there to find generous gifts for family and friends.

In 2013, Linda moved to Akron to be closer to her grandchildren, a decision that brought her immeasurable joy. She embraced her new community, singing in the Bath Church choir, swimming with her "Mermaids" crew at the Falls Natatorium Pool, cheering on her granddaughter at volleyball and her grandson at baseball and basketball, and enjoying Friday "Date Nights" with her grandchildren. Her son Mason will especially miss their weekend breakfasts at Wally Waffle, wishing for just one more of those Sunday mornings together.

Linda is survived by her son Mason Linderbaum, daughter-in-law Beth, grandchildren Alison and Grant, sisters Jan and Nancy, and brother Paul. She is also deeply missed by her two cats, Leo and Billy, who were her constant companions. Linda was preceded in death by her brothers Steve and Tom and her sister Patti.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM at the Hummel Funeral Home, 2800 West Market Street, Fairlawn, Ohio. Donations may be made to the Summit County Humane Society, honoring Linda's lifelong love of animals.

Linda will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and devotion to those she loved. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
