Kristopher Forest Burns

Kristopher Forest Burns, age 62, of Akron, Ohio, died unexpectedly on April 3, 2026.

Born on August 17, 1963, in Akron, Ohio, Kris was a lifelong resident of the area. He grew up in Copley and graduated from Copley High School. He later became a partner with his father at Kirbie’s Family Meats and Catering, where he built a life around his passion for food and community.

Kris found great joy in cooking and took pride in sharing his creations with friends, family, and neighbors. His love of food extended beyond his work, leading him to travel often—especially to New York City—where he delighted in exploring unique restaurants and specialty food shops.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kimberly Burns; his father, Kirbie Burns; his brother, Jeffrey Kyle Burns; his nephew, Kent Kirbie Burns; and his father-in-law, Bob Copeland.

Kris will be deeply missed by his mother, Effie Burns; his brother, Kent Burns (Sue); his sister, Kelly Vitrano (Tony); his mother-in-law, Pat Copeland; his sister-in-law, Julie Savene (Michael); his brother-in-law, Bob Copeland (Christy); and a host of nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory. He will also be missed by his sweet pup, Rose.

Kris also gave back to his community through volunteering at the Haven of Rest. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to this organization in his honor.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
