Kevin James Hogan was born on July 26, 1966 to Dr. James and Carolyn Hogan of Akron, Ohio, the oldest of four sons. He passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025 in his family home at the age of 59. He was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Mary Ann Hogan and Rudolph and Pauline Kropac and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Early in Kevin's life he became active in the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the Eagle Scout award in 1984. He attended Revere High School where he participated in the Revere Marching Band, playing the tuba. The band, and Kevin, played a part in A Christmas Story in 1983. Kevin graduated from Walsh University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration and Computer Science. He later graduated from the University of Akron with an Associate Degree in Food Management and Culinary Arts. He spent many years in the food business, serving others in various capacities.
Kevin spent a lifetime overcoming limitations to achieve goals he otherwise would not have had a chance to achieve. He projected this can-do attitude to other people in his life to encourage them to achieve and exceed their life goals. He had an exceptional love, loyalty and compassion for all people in his life.
In 1995, encouraged by his grandfather, Rudolph Kropac, Kevin became a member of the Knights of Columbus in Council 547 in Akron, Ohio. He went on to receive his Patriotic Fourth degree. Among other positions in the K of C, he served as Faithful Navigator of Msgr. Joseph S. O'Keefe Assembly 818 and as Grand Knight of St. Hilary Council 14551. Under his leadership, his council received two Star Awards for exceptional achievement. In 2016 he became the Class Honoree for the Ohio District One Patriotic Fourth Degree, receiving commendations from the Supreme Knight of the K of C and from the Bishop of Cleveland, among others. Most recently, he was awarded the Star Award for his many years serving as Ohio District Deputy in the Cleveland/Akron area. In these achievements, Kevin was inspired by the fundamental mission of the K of C, to serve the Catholic Church, its members and the needs of society in general. Inspired by his faith, he had a deep devotion to his church and a high appreciation of the dedication of church leaders and volunteers in fulfilling the mission of the church. Kevin followed Jesus in so many ways - through his faith, his works, his humility, his morality and his constant offering of the one thing Jesus commanded most: love for one another, love for his mom and dad, love for his brothers, love for all of his family, love for his friends and love for anybody who had the privilege to encounter Kevin's spirit. Kevin moved mountains for others- but, as much as he tried, even Kevin couldn't move the Cleveland Browns to a Super Bowl!
In addition to his parents, Kevin leaves his brothers, Dennis Hogan, Brian Hogan (Amy) and James Hogan (Lori), and his nieces and nephews, Emily Hogan, Jack Hogan, Alec Hogan, Colleen Hogan, Evelyn Hogan, Luke Hogan and Joseph Hogan. Additionally, he leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom he cherished throughout his life.
