Hower
Feb 2, 1950 — Oct 21, 2026
Kathleen "Kathy" Hower, born in Youngstown, Ohio, passed away after a life defined by resilience, loyalty, and an unwavering devotion to the people she loved.
Kathy was the daughter of Sandy and Elvera Cugini Mabe. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Otis A. Hower, her sister, Carol Beight and her nephew, David Sheppard.
She leaves behind her twin sister, Shirley Sheppard, her sister-in-law, Claudia Hower, one niece, many nephews and a circle of friends who became family. Among those she held especially close were Clem and Sharon Psenicka, Eric and Laura Strodtbeck, her godson Jacob Psenicka (Lama) her honorary daughter Carly Psenicka (Kris), and her beloved dog Charlie.
On December 31, 1998, Kathy married Otis Hower. Otis was truly the love of her life. Their marriage was a central part of her story, and their years together were among her most cherished.
Kathy built a career in steel industry sales, where she earned the respect of colleagues through her determination, confidence and the ability to take charge when needed. She approached life with the same strength and independence that defined her professional success.
Outside of work, Kathy was an avid golfer and devoted animal lover. She loved time on the golf course, the company of her many dear friends, and her dog, Charlie. Above all, she treasured spending time with the people she loved. She looked forward to and cherished her Sundays spent with her beloved sister Shirley and her nephew Russell Sheppard.
Kathy's family extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the friends who surrounded her with love and support. Your presence, kindness and companionship meant more than words can express. Also, a special thank you to Crystal Mellinder Bryd and her care team, "Touch of Love/lsaiah Graceful Heart", for their exceptional and compassionate care.
In keeping with Kathy's wishes, there will be no service or calling hours. Instead, friends and loved ones are encouraged to raise a glass in her honor, share a story, or spend time with the people they love.
For those wishing to honor Kathy's memory, contributions may be made to the Akron Canton Food Bank or to The Haven of Rest.
Kathy's love was unwavering, her friendships enduring, and her place in the hearts of those who loved her will always remain.
