Kathleen Bachmann

June 25, 1935 — June 13, 2025

Kathleen Elizabeth Bachmann (Kelly) went home to her Lord on June 13, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, compassion, understanding and perseverance. Born June 25,1935 in Chicago, Illinois Kathy dedicated her life to the service of others. As a young social worker she began her mission as an advocate for children, families, and the underserved. She fought for civil rights and was relentless in her pursuit of inclusion and fair, loving treatment of children with disabilities, the developmentally challenged and the marginalized.

To know her is to love her and to be loved by her. Her love of Christ and seeing Christ in others was a guiding principal that she lived by. She was funny, fierce, and unstoppable.

When an 89 year old dies, people rarely use the word "sudden", but up until her final moments, working in the garden she loved, she showed no signs of slowing down. From the grandstands at the Kentucky Derby, on the boat in the Portage Lakes, in the bars, in the pool, on the dance floor, and even in the pews at Mass, she celebrated that which she held most dear; family. Her family was almost as big as her heart...almost. With her husband John, she raised their 12 children, 32 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren but she did not stop there. She brought home countless tough-to-place foster children and wove them into her cherished family for life. She touched the lives of so many and leaves those listed below to continue her good work... Spouse John W Bachmann m.11/22/58; Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren: Michelle and Jim Love, Noelle; John and Karen Bachmann, Daniel Bachmann (Lindsey) Eden, Rohan, Isla, Andrew Bachmann (Janine) Lina, Barrett, Hugo, Patrick Bachmann (Lin) Collin, Isabella; Mark and Carol Bachmann, Joseph Bachmann (Erin), Benny, Michael (Jordan), Jeffrey, Kathleen; Mary Regina Bachmann Dietz (Chuck), Julia, Liliana; Christine "Wisty" and Mike Reineke, Zachary (Mariza), Sara, Megan; Edward and Katie Bachmann, Emily, Hannah; Kelly and Kevin Thomas, Rachel Thomas (Sean) Emmett, Riley, Christopher, Alexander, Sophia; Patrick James and Kay Bachmann, Lindsey, Kylie, Mia, Jason; Julie and Todd Vesco, Isabella, Xavier, Jackson, Gabriella; Michael and Rachel Bachmann, Edith, Oscar, Beatrice; Angela Bachmann; Christopher Bachmann and the children who became family Joanie and Carmen and the many others who found a home with her.
