Julie Acus, 65, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and her two dogs. Julie was born in Phoenix, AZ on May 6th, 1960. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles P. Cato Jr., her mother Anne Cato, and her two siblings, Charles P. Cato III and Anne Murrin.
Julie is survived by the love of her life, Raymond; daughter Kirstin (Nick); son Christopher (Gabi); mother-in-law Marlene; sister-in-law Karen (Rod); sister-in-law Kathy (Dan); nephew Danny (Maggie); nephew Aaron (JoLyn); niece Sarah; nephew Ben (Lizzie); Aunt Caroline; and her dear friends Vicki, Karl, Song, Kathy, Lauri, Paula, Nadine, Jenni, Laura, Greg, Jane, Breez, Carolyn, Aurelia, Shawn, and Sheryl.
Julie and Ray shared a long and happy marriage for 39 years. And they were high school sweethearts! Julie graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Medical Dietetics in 1982. She received her M.B.A. from the University of Akron in 1994.
Julie practiced dietetics for many years both as a consultant for hospitals and nursing homes, and as a certified sports nutrition counselor for athletes at The University of Akron. Julie loved helping her clients!
Julie also loved animals and instilled her love for animals in her family, including adopting a rescue dog from One of A Kind Pet Rescue. Julie loved volunteering at One of A Kind with her good friend Paula.
Julie enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, golfing, scuba diving, working out at Springside, walking her dogs, and bike riding.
Julie was fortunate to have vacationed to France, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Aruba, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Canada, Bahamas, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, and the Cayman Islands.
Julie loved watching Akron Men's Basketball and the Buckeyes. She told her kids they could get married any day of the year except the Saturday following Thanksgiving when the Buckeyes play the team from up North.
Julie fought a very tough battle against a rare form of lung cancer called RET positive lung cancer. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the RET Positive Lung Cancer Research at The Ohio State University or One of A Kind Pet Rescue.
