Judith Ann Hollenack , 73, passed away at Akron General Medical Center on February 2nd following a three month illness. By her side were her husband of 52 years, Jim Hollenack of Akron; son Don Hollenack of Dublin, OH; daughter Jeannie and son-in-law Mike Raymond of Columbus, OH. Also survived by grandchildren David Hollenack (17) and Anna Hollenack (14); Brother-in-law Jerry (Pam) (first wife Carol, deceased) Hollenack; Sisters-in-law Flo (Jim, deceased) Lerew; Carole Sue (Don) Weakland; and Mary Rita (Denny) Schafer along with 12 nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by son Gary Lee (age 9 in 1972) and mother Vera Harbison of Kenton, OH. Born and raised in Kenton, OH, Judy graduated from Kenton High School and attended Ohio Northern University before moving to Akron in 1960. She taught elementary school for many years before becoming a merchandiser for American Greetings. Together with her mother-in-law (Marian, deceased) and later, her husband and friends, she catered weddings and special events. Additionally, she worked as a food service staff member for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. Judy was a lifelong member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Akron where she joined the St. Anne's Guild and Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a current member of the St. Vincent-St. Mary Athletic Booster Club and a former member of The Ohio State University Mothers' Club. Judy loved watching sports and was very passionate and knowledgeable about Cleveland's pro teams, Ohio State and St. Vincent-St. Mary athletics. She adored the many pet cats she owned over the years. She also loved cooking, creating several unique recipes and became famously known for her cabbage rolls. Judy didn't ask for much in life but she always made sure her family took their annual family vacation, a tradition they continued for 23 consecutive years. Later in retirement, she also enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida with her husband, and in 2012 a 50th anniversary trip with her family to Myrtle Beach. Calling hours will be held 4pm to 7pm on Friday, February 7th at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St., Akron. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am Saturday, February 8th at Visitation of Mary Catholic Church (formerly Annunciation) 87 Broad Street, Akron. Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery.
