View Memorial Photo Tribute Judy Eck died August 28 2007 at Hospice of VNS on Ridgewood Road after a short battle with cancer. She was a week shy of her 70th birthday. A lifelong Christian Judy was a loving wife mother and grandmother and a friend to all who met her. She never had an unkind word to say to or about anyone she ever knew. A lifelong area resident Judy graduated from Copley High School in 1955 and had been a member of St. Hilary Catholic Church for many years before joining The Chapel several years ago where she met a wonderful group of friends who shared her fellowship in Christ. She was a dedicated volunteer for Right to Life of Summit County. Preceded in death by Jim her husband of 32 years and four brothers she is survived by: her children Theresa Joseph (Tristina) Christopher Paul (Tracy); her precious six grandchildren James Angela Hailey Austin Anna and Aidan; sisters Barbara (Charlie) Strigle Peggy (Arthur) Cole and Joanne Walker; her brother Gerald; her sister-in-law Marie (Don) Rockhold; and a host of nieces and nephews grandnieces and grandnephews and many many close friends and wonderful neighbors. Judy was loved and respected for her stoic approach to life facing her disease with courage and unabiding faith in Jesus Christ. She will always be remembered for her tenderness with her grandchildren her dry sense of humor and her wonderful lasagna. Her presence at youth baseball and soccer games dance and singing recitals and every school program her grandchildren were involved in will be greatly missed. We would like to thank all of those who assisted Judy and the family over the last few months in word in deed and with prayer. We are truly blessed with wonderful friends neighbors and co-workers. We also want to thank the staff at Hospice of VNS for their tender and capable care in Judy's last weeks. Calling hours will be held Wednesday August 29 2007 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. The funeral will take place 10 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Hall at The Chapel 135 Fir Hill in Akron with Pastor Knute Larson officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
