Joseph Daniel Riccardi 27 of Pittsburgh and a native of Akron died unexpectedly Saturday February 17 2007. Born October 24 1979 at Akron he was the son of Joseph J. Riccardi and his companion Maryann Garrett of California and Suzanne (Dennis Jr.) Trimmer of New Philadelphia. A 1998 graduate of Revere High School Joe was a young man with a quiet confidence. He was bright compassionate and had a terrific sense of humor. He was well spoken on a variety of topics and had a many interests ranging from sports to the fine arts. Joe was also an avid reader. In addition to his parents Joe is survived by: his wife Erica Vaughn Strasser Riccardi of Pittsburgh; a brother Matthew Riccardi of Bowling Green and sister Alicia Riccardi of California both of whom he loved dearly; nine aunts and uncles and their families in the greater Akron area; and twenty first-cousins. He will also be terribly missed by his maternal grandmother Elaine (Jack Taylor) Evans of Akron; and maternal grandfather Ernest (Vickie) Evans of Stow as well as mother-in-law Marsha Shamblee and family and dozens of friends and members of his extended family. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Frank & Mildred Riccardi and cousin Adam Riccardi. Friends may call in the Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Akron on Wednesday February 21 from 2-4 & 6-8pm. At 8:00pm Pastor Jim Borton will lead a ceremony that celebrates Joe's life. Cremation will follow services. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Joe's memory to Let's Grow Akron 467 Harvey Ave. Akron Ohio 44314.
