John Roetzel, 74, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026.

Born on July 19, 1952, John lived a life defined by hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of nature. He dedicated several decades to working alongside his family at Roetzel Produce, which he took great pride in.

Above all else, John was a loving father and devoted grandfather. He leaves behind his beloved son, Anthony "Tony" Roetzel, daughter-in-law Amber Roetzel, and his cherished grandsons, Ben and Tyler, who brought him endless joy.

John was very close with his siblings and is survived by his brothers, Jeff (Jennifer) Roetzel, Jim Roetzel; his sisters, Sue Freeman and Karen (Jim) Amer. He is also survived by his former spouse, Patty, step-son Michael (Beth) Meneer and their child Maisie and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Joanne Roetzel, and his sister, Linda Roetzel.

John found peace and happiness in the outdoors. He loved hiking, spending time in nature, and treasured the companionship of the many dogs he loved throughout his life. He also believed in giving back and generously volunteered with numerous local charitable organizations, quietly making a positive difference in the lives of others.

John will be remembered for his gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and compassionate heart. His legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.

Calling hours will be 10am - 12pm Friday, August 7, at the Hummel Funeral Home 2800 W. Market St. Fairlawn, Ohio 44333, followed by a graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Akron-Canton Foodbank.
