John Andrew Kuhar, 93, of Wadsworth, Ohio, passed away on September 27, 2025. A loving husband and father, John lived a life of integrity, kindness, and commitment to helping others.
Born in Akron in 1931, John graduated from Garfield High School in 1949. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Operational Management from the University of Akron in 1954, where he served as President of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity (member #162). He recently donated his vintage solid gold pledge pin to the chapter, creating a new tradition of the "President's Pin" for each sitting president to wear with distinction.
After graduation, John married his wife, Gloria, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned 62 years. He built a distinguished career at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, serving as manager of the Industrial Products division. He was recognized nationally with the Goodyear Spirit Award in 1984.
Following his retirement from Goodyear after 39 years, John turned his passion for art and antiques into his second career. A highly respected estate sale professional and appraiser, he was known for both his expertise and love of collectibles, art and antiquities.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Kuhar; his brother, Donald Kuhar; and his wife, Gloria.
He leaves behind his children: daughter Mary Ellen (Tony) Kimberlin, son John E. Kuhar, and daughter Patti (Michael) Hoying; his grandchildren Mike Kimberlin, Sam Renner, Tom (Maria) Kimberlin, and Teddy Renner; as well as countless friends, extended family members, and neighbors whose lives he touched with his kindness.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 11th at Hummel Funeral Home, 2800 West Market Street, Fairlawn, Ohio. A brief prayer service will follow, with private interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Village of St. Edward in Wadsworth and NEO Hospice for the exceptional, loving care they provided to John during his stay and time in hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to: Village of St. Edward Foundation, 3125 Smith Road, Fairlawn, OH 44333, or Northeast Ohio Hospice, https://www.northeastohiohealthservices.org/donate.
