John Deremigio

John P. Deremigio 91 formerly of Akron died October 13 2006 in Logansport IN. John was born in Akron on August 8 1915. John was a 1934 graduate of Akron South High School and attended the University of Akron for two years. He is a former member of St. Paul Catholic Church. John was an Akron resident until 1953. A 36th Army Division veteran of World War II he had been held in Germany as a prisoner of war for 20 months. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Deremigio retired in 1980 as vice-president of Brada-Miller Trucking Company in Indiana. He also had been employed as traffic manager and in executive positions by various other motor carriers. He was a member of the Association of Transportation Law Professionals. In Logansport he was a member of All Saints Catholic Church a life member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Francis of Assisi Council 561. John was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Rose Rufini Deremigio a brother and a son. John is survived by his wife Sadie M. LaRocca whom he married on September 13 1941. Also surviving is sister Mary LaRocca of Akron; sister-in-law Josephine LaRocca of Akron; nieces nephews great-nieces and great-nephews. Graveside Service with full military honors will be held Wednesday October 18 2006 11 AM at Holy Cross Cemetery with Fr. Michael Smith officiating. Honor Guard provided by Copley VFW Post 7971 and American Legion Post 473. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church or School 112 E. Market St. Logansport IN 46947.
