John Deremigio

John P. Deremigio 91 formerly of Akron died October 13 2006 in Logansport IN. John was born in Akron on August 8 1915. John was a 1934 graduate of Akron South High School and attended the University of Akron for two years. He is a former member of St. Paul Catholic Church. John was an Akron resident until 1953. A 36th Army Division veteran of World War II he had been held in Germany as a prisoner of war for 20 months. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Deremigio retired in 1980 as vice-president of Brada-Miller Trucking Company in Indiana. He also had been employed as traffic manager and in executive positions by various other motor carriers. He was a member of the Association of Transportation Law Professionals. In Logansport he was a member of All Saints Catholic Church a life member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Francis of Assisi Council 561. John was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Rose Rufini Deremigio a brother and a son. John is survived by his wife Sadie M. LaRocca whom he married on September 13 1941. Also surviving is sister Mary LaRocca of Akron; sister-in-law Josephine LaRocca of Akron; nieces nephews great-nieces and great-nephews. Graveside Service with full military honors will be held Wednesday October 18 2006 11 AM at Holy Cross Cemetery with Fr. Michael Smith officiating.
