Joanne A. Falb passed away January 10 at Concordia on Sumner in Copley, Ohio, where she had been living since the fall of 2023. Born in 1933 to Ernest and Ethel (Billings) Falb, she was a life-long area resident. After graduating from Copley High School in 1951, she began a 43-year career at Ohio Edison where she developed many lasting friendships. Both during and after her retirement, she was fortunate to be able to travel with her friends throughout the United States and abroad, especially enjoying many cruises and trips to Walt Disney World. Even though her health began to decline in her early eighties, she continued to be an avid reader who liked working crossword and word puzzles, and she maintained membership in the Frank Bender Post 473 American Legion Auxiliary and the Ohio Edison Retired Women's Club.
In addition to her parents and special aunt, Ruth Billings, Joanne was predeceased by her brothers Stuart (Betty), Edward (Alice), and Bruce (Flora) and niece Cheryl Bartoe. She is survived by her nieces Vicki Wilkinson (Lance), Paula Rand (Michael), and nephews Bruce Falb (Jill), and James Falb, and great- nieces and nephews Mindy Wilkinson, Deanne Deneke (Derek), Rachel Estep, Laura Falb, Emily Oyler (Zack), Brian Falb (Breanna), and Michael Falb (Jordan).
Moving to an assisted-living apartment was very difficult for Joanne, but she did enjoy the new friends that she made there, and she especially appreciated and loved her friend Alice Rice who helped her adjust to her new environment. The car rides, lunches out, special treats and surprises that Alice provided, and their time together brought her much joy and comfort.
Per Joanne's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Memorials may be sent to the Frank Bender Post 473 American Legion Auxiliary or a charity of your choice.
